Residents of the Kurram area, which is engulfed in strife, are facing ongoing difficulties as a result of the alleged high prices at which food and other necessities brought in as part of relief efforts are being sold, according to locals who spoke to Geo News on Wednesday.
Long-term trade route closures have resulted in shortages of necessities, making the already dangerous situation brought on by tribal conflict in the hilly terrain even worse for the local population.
The primary transit route to Kurram has been closed for more than 100 days since the last incident, leaving the area without food, medications, and fuel.
According to a local, green chilies, sugar, and tea were being offered for Rs800 a kilogram, while tomatoes, cauliflower, and onions were being sold for Rs500.
