According to information obtained by News, KPMG and NatWest Group resumed their full membership in the CBI this month, eighteen months after the agency suspended their cooperation over the sexual misconduct scandal that nearly led it to disintegration.
According to those close to the CBI, Addleshaw Goddard, the City legal firm, has also resumed its membership.
According to a recent story by The News, the trio has joined other companies that have returned to falling under the organization’s purview, including AstraZeneca, Drax Group, and Unilever.
However, it is believed that Sir Rupert Soames, the head of the CBI, made attempts to persuade Aviva, the FTSE-100 insurance, to openly resign from the organization in April 2023.
The self-described ‘voice of British business’, the CBI, was on the verge of financial collapse due to a crisis.
New borrowing facilities provided by NatWest and other high street banks, who are typically some of its most prominent members, were required to bail it out.
