An investigation into Lord Waheed Alli’s “alleged non-registration of interests” may result in a violation of the members’ code of conduct.
The British billionaire is under investigation for possible violations of codes 14(a) and 17, according to the UK parliament website. He is one of the prime minister’s greatest personal donors since December 2019 and a major contributor to the Labour Party.
These regulations mandate that members ensure their entries are current and disclose any interests that could be deemed to affect their parliamentary actions.
It is acknowledged that the inquiry concerns a clerical component of previously disclosed interests rather than donations.
The Lords’ Commissioner declined to make more comment.
“Lord Alli will cooperate fully with the Lords’ Commissioner, and he is confident all interests have been registered,” a Labour spokesperson stated. We are unable to speak further at this time.
