ISLAMABAD: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), warned to start a protest drive on Tuesday if the government continued to put off the issue and failed to inform the public of the Societies Registration (Amendment) Act 2024, which was approved by both houses of parliament.
Speaking to the National Assembly, Fazl stated that the government’s pleasure with the Madaris bill led to its passage into law. However, he continued, the issue of Madaris’ registration with the Ministry of Education was covered by an agreement rather than a law.
The government would assist with the registration of new Madaris in accordance with the agreement. An agreement was made to maintain the registration of those Madaris who have already been registered.
“The agreement stated that three-year visas and Madaris bank accounts would be opened.”
