CAPE TOWN: At the end of the first day of the second Test at the Newlands on Friday, Ryan Rickelton and captain Temba Bavuma have pulled South Africa out of trouble by smashing hundreds to lead the home team to 316/4.
Thanks to Rickelton and Bavuma’s 235-run partnership for the fourth wicket, South Africa had another successful session as the hosts scored 132 runs for the loss of just one wicket.
When Bavuma was caught behind by Salman Ali Agha in the 77th, the marathon stand came to an end. Nine fours and two sixes helped the right-handed batter reach 106 off 179 pitches.
