A police official told the news that two of these illegal hospitals may close “in the coming weeks” following a police raid on the first one in the southern suburbs of Manila in May.
Two months ago, the Pasay City hospital had IV drips for skin whitening, dental implants, and hair transplant instruments taken out.
A representative for the Presidential Anti-Organised Crime Commission (PAOCC), Winston John Casio, stated, “You can create an entirely new person out of those.”
According to police, the two illegal hospitals that are being watched are thought to be four times bigger than the Pasay hospital.
Mr. Casio claimed that among their clients are those who labor illegally in the Philippines from online casinos.
Online casinos, also referred to as Pogos (Philippine internet gaming operations), serve players in mainland China, where gambling is illegal.
However, authorities claim that Pogos have served as a front for illegal operations like human trafficking and phone fraud.
In the Pasay raid, three doctors—two from Vietnam and one from China—a Chinese pharmacist and a Vietnamese nurse—all lacked the necessary licenses to practice medicine in the Philippines—were taken into custody.
The discovery of a hemodialysis machine by the authorities indicates that the 400-square-meter clinic provided more than just plastic surgery.
