In Karachi’s New Challi neighborhood on Tuesday, a gas cylinder exploded, resulting in at least two fatalities and eight injuries.
According to the information provided, the explosion happened when a cylinder burst in a store in the generator market, starting a fire.
The shop’s contents scattered across the street due to the explosion’s tremendous magnitude.
Once rescue crews arrived at the scene, they were able to confirm one fatality and six injuries.
SSP City responded to the incident by stating that the explosion caused the roof of the business in question to fall and that a search is currently ongoing in response to reports from witnesses that a person may still be buried beneath the wreckage.
The police source further disclosed that the bomb disposal unit has been contacted for additional inquiry.
The occurrence occurs because gas cylinders are very prone to explosions, whether they are used for home or business purposes. Some of the reasons for this include low-quality cylinders and a failure to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) when replenishing.
