After reading the “extremely disappointing” Faizabad sit-in investigation commission findings, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa expressed his surprise.
The inquiry committee, which was established to look into the Faizabad sit-in, presented its report, and the federal government’s review petition was being heard by a three-member bench led by the Chief Justice at the time of the CJP’s remarks.
Justices Naeem Akhtar Awan and Irfan Saadat Khan were also on the bench.
The Faizabad sit-in commission was established by the Supreme Court on orders related to the 2017 sit-in at Faizabad led by former Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi. Major General (retd) Azhar Naveed, the former spymaster and former director general of the Punjab Rangers, was given a clean sheet.Dr. Akhtar Ali Shah, a former KP police officer, chaired the commission, which also comprised former inspector general Tahir Alam and senior PAS official Khushhal Khan.
