Venezuelans once again witnessed the swearing-in of Nicolás Maduro on Friday, who wore the executive sash and proclaimed himself president in spite of the irregularities and doubts surrounding his election.
He vowed to crush everyone who opposed him and continued to insult the United States and any foreign leaders who did not acknowledge his comeback to power.
“I’m a people person. In his inauguration speech, Maduro informed fans and friends, “The people own the power I represent, and I owe it to the people.”
After the contentious July 28 election, Maduro took power for his third six-year term, which will have seemed familiar to many Venezuelans.
